Sue Adams

Sue joined BSDHT in 2004 following a restructure of the Association's administrative support and introduction of a central telephone number. She provides a first point of contact for all callers to the BSDHT, co-ordinates the Jobline and Classifieds service, and undertakes marketing and PR on behalf of the Society. Sue has worked in dentistry for most of her career and for the last 24 years in an administrative capacity.
Julia Brewin

Julia qualified as a dental hygienist from the Eastman Dental Hospital in 1989. Her working week is divided between a specialist practice in central London , where she works for two days, and a further two days teaching dental hygienists and dental therapists at the Eastman Dental Hospital. Julia has been actively involved in her profession and BSDHT since qualifying and has served as the Secretary for the London Regional Group, elected member of Council and her present position on Publications' Committee. She also sits on the General Dental Council as a DCP member. Julia has recently branched out and now runs her own referral practice in London .
Mhari Coxon

Mhari qualified from King's in 1996, staying on as part of the Periodontal Department as a staff hygienist on a part time basis. After a break with children she returned to the amalgamated GKT as a Clinical Tutor.
Mhari now works in private practice in Central London and Chairs the BSDHT's London Regional Group. In 2006 she won Hygienist of the Year at the Probe Awards and has used her notoriety to start a fellowship for hygienists and therapists in London to allow a social environment to meet other professionals.
She was an elected council member of BSDHT in 2006/07.
She enjoys continuing her teaching by lecturing to post graduates. Mhari is on the editorial board of Preventative Dentistry.
Amanda Gallie

Amanda has worked as a nurse and a hygienist over the last 10 years and gained many different skills ranging from practical clinical experience to developing interpersonal and communication skills. She has worked in different sectors of this service industry, including NHS, private, the hospital sector and industry. She is the Midlands Regional Group representative on BSDHT Council. Amanda is part of the events team for the various seminars and Bi-Annual Scientific Meetings. She is also involved in the training and education of the dental students, hygienists and therapists through her position as the UK Professional Educator for Philips Oral healthcare, and regularly writes articles for the dental press.
Heather Lewis, Editor

Heather qualified as a dental hygienist in 1982 in Glasgow and has worked as a practising hygienist in both NHS and private practice. She currently works two days per week in a private practice. As a Tutor Dental Hygienist she worked in Glasgow and in Cardiff Dental Hospitals. She has also been involved with the teaching of dental nurses. Her research interests are in the field of infection control in general practice and she is co author of several papers on that and related subjects. Heather also has a BA (Hons) in English Literature and is currently the Editor of Dental Health and DH Contact, the Association's newsletter.
Patricia Macpherson

Patricia qualified from Cardiff Dental Hospital in 1978 and has been an active member of BSDHT since student days. Within the South West and South Wales Regional Group she has held the posts of Secretary for three years and Treasurer for two years before becoming Secretary again for a further year. On a national level, Patricia became an Elected Council Member for BDHA (now BSDHT) in 1992 and Honorary Secretary of BDHA (now BSDHT) from 1993-1998. During that time she was also Press Officer for almost two years. In 2002 she graduated with a First Class Honours BA Degree in Health Promotion. Patricia has been a member of the General Dental Council's Fitness to Practise Panel since 2007. She currently works in a private practice in Staffordshire.
Elaine Tilling

Elaine qualified in the Royal Air Force in 1982. She has been an active member of BSDHT since that time serving as a Regional Officer, Military Representative to Council, the Elected Members' Representative to Council and as Council's representative to the Executive Committee of the BDHA (now BSDHT), from which she was additionally co-opted onto a guideline development group for the Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). Elaine continues to teach and present on various subjects, speaking at four of the Regional meetings this year. She is currently the Education and Project Manager for Molar Ltd where she is involved with designing and implementing educational programmes for the dental profession. Elaine has also served on the National Oral Health Promotion Group committee and is the immediate Past President of the Institute of Health Promotion and Education. |
